Peer Reviewer Process

The peer review process

Jurnal Pertanahan maintains the standards of double-blind peer review while increasing the efficiency of the process. All research articles published in Jurnal Pertanahan undergo full peer review, with the following key characteristics:

  1. Jurnal Pertanahan applies a two-stage process: after the technical check, your submission will first be reviewed by the editorial team for publication suitability in the journal. If suitable, it will then be assigned to one of the editors for handling the review and decision process.
  2. Your manuscript will be assigned to an editor if it meets the requirements of Jurnal Pertanahan and fits its scope. The editor will identify and contact reviewers who are acknowledged experts in the field. Since peer review is a voluntary service, it may take some time, but the editor will regularly remind reviewers if they do not respond in a timely manner. During this stage, the status will appear as "Under Review."
  3. Once the editor has received the minimum number of expert reviews, the status will change to "Required Reviews Complete." It is also possible that the editor may decide that your manuscript does not meet the journal’s criteria or scope. In this case, the editor will promptly notify you that the manuscript has been rejected and may recommend a more suitable journal.

Peer Review of Referred Papers

Editors of Jurnal Pertanahan will decide promptly whether to accept, reject, or request revisions of referred papers based on the reviews and editorial insights. Editors also have the option of seeking additional reviews when needed. Authors will be informed if further review is required.

Submitted articles will first be reviewed by the editor for suitability of topic and compliance with writing guidelines. All manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review, where both reviewer and author identities are concealed to ensure academic objectivity and integrity.

The review steps are as follows:

  1. Manuscript Submission (by author)
  2. Manuscript Check and Selection (by managing editor and editors)—including plagiarism screening with Turnitin.
  3. Editorial Decision —Editors may directly accept, reject, or send the manuscript for review.
  4. Manuscript Reviewing Process (by reviewers)
  5. Notification of Acceptance, Revision, or Rejection (by editor to author based on reviewers’ comments)
  6. Paper Revision (by author)
  7. Resubmission of Revised Manuscript (by author, following the same process from point 1)
  8. Final Review of Revisions—if satisfactory, the editor notifies acceptance.
  9. Galley Proof and Publishing Process

Decision Categories

The editorial decision is made based on reviewers’ feedback. Possible outcomes are:

  1. Accepted as it is – the journal will publish the paper in its original form.
  2. Accepted with Minor Revisions—the paper is accepted provided that the author makes small corrections within the stipulated time.
  3. Accepted with Major Revisions—the paper is accepted on the condition that substantial changes are made as suggested by reviewers and/or editors.
  4. Resubmit (Conditional Rejection)—the journal is willing to reconsider the paper in another review round after major revisions.
  5. Rejected (Outright Rejection)—the journal will not publish the paper or reconsider it even after revisions.
